COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s cross country team will travel to Greenville, N.C., Saturday, Nov. 15 to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. The women’s six-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., on East Carolina’s Lake Kristi course. More than 60 men’s and women’s cross country teams will take part in the event. The top two teams will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships and the top four individuals who are not part of a qualifying team can qualify as individuals.

Junior Jenny Lake will lead the Gamecocks. Lake is coming off a seventh place showing at the SEC Championships in Athens, Ga., on Nov. 3. Lake’s finish was the best every by a USC runner and earned her a spot on the All-SEC team. Joining Lake in the lineup for USC will be four freshmen; Tristan Rackow, Julie Reale, Christine Mudd and Karen Wigal. Senior Mary Wright and junior Mary Claire Utsey will also be competing for the garnet and black.
