Carolina swimming & diving returns to the pool on Friday at 5 p.m. hosting Florida at the Carolina Natatorium in their second SEC meet of the year. Carolina is 2-2 in dual action meet so far this season after coming off a win against LSU. Coach Don Gibb says the key to tomorrow’s meet will be continued improvement. “Florida is going to be a tough team but we just need to continue to improve.”

Continued improvement was evident last week as the women defeated LSU 133-110. Taking home first place were Ashleigh Bastak (50-yard freestyle), Haley Skaggs (100-yard freestyle), Jennifer Van Assen (200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle), and Meredith Kuka (1650-yard freestyle). Women’s diver Allison Brennan came in first in the 1-meter diving while Holly Hodges finished first in the 3-meter.

The men’s squad defeated LSU 144-96 with many strong performances. Tamas Szucs led the way with top finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Istvan Bathazi took home first in the 100-yard IM. Men’s divers had a good outing as well with Andy Bradley taking first in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.

Florida women’s swimming & diving is 5-0 on the year and the men are 2-1, both coming off of a win against in-state rival Florida State on Tuesday.
