Columbia, S.C. – Senior setter Megan Hosp recorded eight service aces to tie the school record for most aces in a match, as South Carolina defeated Creighton 3-0 in the Carolina Classic. Hosp tied teammate Cally Plummer for the record as USC won 30-16, 30-18, 30-17. The Gamecocks improved to 4-1 while the Bluejays fell to 0-3. Sophomore Niece Curry led the Garnet and Black in kills with 10 and hit .563.

USC saw solid action from freshman Nicole Miller, who made her first collegiate start, as she hit .231 and had one block solo and two block assists. Defensively, Morgan led the team in digs with 10 while Amy Benson contributed five.

“It was fun to see three of our freshman on the floor. I was really please with what I saw,” said head coach Kim Christopher. “Sarah Morgan is having a great run and I like how we were able to get Nicole and Amy Benson playing time.”

The Gamecocks close out the tournament tonight at 7:30 when they face No. 13 Pacific. USC is now 2-0 in the tournament.
