FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –
The South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams continued competition, Tuesday evening at the Arkansas Natatorium. Sophomore diver Holly Hodges tied for second place in the finals of the three-meter board (509.35), while senior Brandon Hulko placed third in the one-meter competition on the men’s side. After the second day of competition, South Carolina is tied for second place on the women’s side with 54 points behind LSU, who has 55 points. The men’s team is currently in seventh place with 32 points. Kentucky leads on the men’s side with 73 points.

“I’m very happy with the way our divers competed today and yesterday,” said head diving coach Todd Sherritt. “Brandon had a tough first day on the three-meter but he bounced back and did a very good job on the one-meter board. Holly really was outstanding placing second on the three-meter. She was competing against divers that were national champions and really made a name for herself. I think she is on her way to becoming one of the best divers in the country.”

For the second consecutive day, Hodges reached the finals of the diving competition. Hodges placed fifth on Monday in the one-meter competition.

Also providing points for the Lady Gamecocks was freshmen Tracey Richardson (431.20) and Allison Brennan (382.85) who finished 13th and 18th respectively.

“For Allison and Tracey as freshman to come into this meet and place where they finished on both days was very good,” said Coach Sherritt.

The divers will conclude their portion of the competition on the platform this afternoon. All three men (Brandon Hulko, Brad Brown and Dean Emmmerton) will compete, with freshman Tammy Baker competing for the women’s squad. Also today will be the first day for swimming, with the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay on both the men’s and women’s side.
