Maria Hickman is in her sixth year at South Carolina, serving as Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Student Development. In addition to her duties with football, she serves as the liaison to the registrar's office.
During her tenure at Carolina, the football team has continued to improve and experience academic success by earning its highest GPA ever during the Fall 2010. During the 2010-11 academic year, the football team graduated 27 student-athletes and this past academic year graduated 24 student-athletes. The team continues to place among the top of the SEC in Honor Roll participants each fall semester with more than 30 student-athletes receiving honors.
Hickman came to South Carolina from the University of Richmond, where she served as an Academic Coordinator for two years with the football, baseball, field hockey and lacrosse teams. She also served as the Life Skills Coordinator. Prior to Richmond, she worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisville while pursuing her master's degree in sport administration.
A native of Statesville, N.C., Hickman graduated from Mars Hill College with a dual degree in business administration and sports management.
