66 Gamecocks on SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll
July 8, 2008 COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University South Carolina tied the University of Florida for top honors with 66 student-athletes on the SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive announced today. Overall, 549 freshman student-athletes from the league's 12 institutions were named to the list. The Gamecocks were the top school on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll as well. To be on the Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have either a GPA of 3.00 or higher at the nominating institution; be on scholarship or a letterwinner; have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment. The list is compiled from grades from the 2007-08 academic year. A complete list of South Carolina's student-athletes earning the honor is below.
