So proud of JD Clowney for representing the #Gamecocks tonight. You'll get it next year. Keep up the good work and continue to work hard.

ROOSTER CROWS
University of South Carolina sophomore defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was a unanimous selection to the Associated Press first-team All-SEC squad, it was announced today. Clowney, a 6-6, 256-pounder from Rock Hill, S.C., is second in the nation in both sacks (13.0) and tackles for loss (21.5), both single season school records. He is a finalist for the Nagurski, Lombardi, Bednarik and Hendricks awards. Carolina junior all-purpose back Ace Sanders and senior safety D.J. Swearinger earned spots on the AP's second team, while junior running back Marcus Lattimore earned honorable mention, despite having his season end prematurely following a knee injury.
Sophomore Aleighsa Welch from the Gamecock women's basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week. Welch scored a career-high 15 rebounds against Drexel, including 10 in the second half and a total of eight on the offensive end. It was the most rebounds by a Gamecock since Nov. 20, 2011. She averaged a double-double for the second week in a row and scored four of the team's first six points in the second half against Drexel to spark a comeback from a 14-point halftime deficit.
