Saturday's 38-20 win over Arkansas was highlighted by one of the best games of senior D.J. Swearinger's career. He posted a career-high 13 tackles (10 solo) including one for loss and a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown that put Carolina up 31-10 in the third quarter. To date this season, Swearinger has recorded 53 tackles (second on the team only to linebacker Shaq Wilson), two interceptions, and two touchdowns. His performance Saturday earned him several weekly honors:
National Defensive Player of the Week (Walter Camp Football Foundation)
Co-Defensive Player of the Week (SEC)
AgSouth Athlete of the Week (Gamecock Athletics)
Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week (ESPN)
Be sure to be in your seats at least 30 minutes before the 1:00 PM kickoff this Saturday vs. Wofford for Senior Day festivities. Be sure to give Swearinger and 26 other Gamecock Football seniors a proper farewell!
