This weekend is Parents Weekend here at the University, so we wanted to highlight four players on the Carolina Football roster whose fathers also represented the Gamecocks on the gridiron.
Senior defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles continues the legacy of his father, Buddy, who played offensive line from 1984-1987. Freshman spur Jordan Diggs' father, Shed, also donned the Garnet and Black as a linebacker. The elder Diggs and Quarles were teammates from 1984-1987, just as Kelcy and Jordan are today. Redshirt freshmen defensive linemen Gerald Dixon and Gerald Dixon Jr. both followed in the footsteps of their father, Gerald. They also have the unique opportunity of playing for the same position coach, defensive line coach Brad Lawing, as their father did during the 1990 and 1991 seasons.
