First baseman Christian Walker became the 25th player in South Carolina history to reach the 200 career hits mark during the Vanderbilt series. After this week, he has 218 hits which is 17th overall in school history.

"On the morning of the Capital One Bowl game, my 2 year old son Paxton sees me in my #21 Gamecocks jersey. Anytime he sees me wearing Gamecock apparel he constantly yells "GO GAMECOCKS!" The whole game he was yelling "GO GAMECOCKS" and after seeing me get excited about a play he'd yell "TOUCHDOWN" with his arms up even if it wasn't a touchdown. I'm pretty sure I can safely say he'll be a Gamecock 4 Life!"
