VOTE FOR DAWN STALEY

Dawn Staley has been nominated for induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame both as an individual and as a member of the 1996 Women's Basketball gold medal team. The '96 team also included Gamecock assistant coach Nikki McCray. Fan votes will count toward the final voting tallies. Fans can vote once per day through April 9, 2012. Let's help get Coach Staley this much-deserved honor!

GAMECOCKS IN THE PROS

Gilmore.jpgFootball: Stephon Gilmore could be fit for Lions in Round 1 of NFL Draft (Detroit Free Press)

"CB Stephon Gilmore (South Carolina) is on the rise and now challenging Dre' Kirkpatrick (Alabama) as the second-rated corner. He looks like a solid first-round pick now. Gilmore's strong 40 time at the combine (4.4) helped show recovery speed, which when paired with how physical he plays, is a nice combination." - ESPN NFL Blog

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Get to know softball senior Molly Brossart (first base) in her Gamecock Spotlight. Gotta love the story about building her own batting cage!

ROOSTER CROWS

Did You Know? South Carolina head coach Ray Tanner and Princeton head coach Scott Bradley earned All-ACC honors at third base in 1980. Bradley was a first-team selection for North Carolina and Tanner a second-team selection for NC State.

Softball combined to hit 13 homers in the seven-game stretch from Feb. 28-March 4. That total matches what the 2009 team did in 45 games that season and surpassed the outputs of both 2008 and 2010. Twenty-two games into 2012, South Carolina has hit 23 homers, two shy of the 2011 team's total. The program record is 38 long balls in a season, set in 2003.
