Capital One Bowl Day 6 - Kickoff Luncheon, First Glimpse of Citrus Bowl

With one day left until the big match-up between the Gamecocks and Huskers, both teams and staffs came together with fans and bowl representatives for the Capital One Bowl Kickoff Luncheon. Both teams made quite an entrance as their respective marching bands played fight songs, followed by welcoming remarks from ESPN's Joe Tessitore.

After lunch, attendees watched each team's highlight video as the two head coaches were introduced and brought to the stage. Steve Spurrier and Bo Pelini had a Q&A session with Tessitore, discussing both the teams' seasons and tomorrow's game. You can watch the video here. Quarterbacks Connor Shaw and Taylor Martinez assisted Tessitore with handing out raffle prizes, including signed footballs from both schools and game jerseys with the Capital One Bowl patch from both schools.

The event wrapped up with some lighthearted entertainment as three players from each team competed in the Capital One Minute Challenge styled after the Minute to Win It game show. Damario Jeffery, Melvin Ingram and Kenny Miles took the stage for the Gamecocks. Jeffery led Carolina off with a win in flipping cups on to water bottles (pictured below). Ingram had a lead over the Huskers in cup pyramid stacking but lost at the last second when his cups slid. It all came down to the final competition, a race to get an Oreo cookie from your forehead to your mouth without using your hands and without it falling. Miles came close but the Husker came away with the victory, getting his Oreo eaten faster. It's hard to describe each game, so you should check out the action in the video here

After lunch the team headed back to the hotel for meetings before heading over to get their first glimpse at the Florida Citrus Bowl and a team walk-through. We were greeted by a great sight - our locker room entrance with a custom graphic:

After a great week of events, the biggest event of all is almost here. Nebraska and South Carolina will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 2, airing live on ESPN and the Gamecock Radio Network.

Could you post updated renderings of what is being planned for the area around Williams Brice Stadium? (not the old farmers market).

ALso, could you post updated pix of the athletic village construction.
