Bruce Ellington made it to practice today after scoring 17 points for the Gamecock basketball team in last night's win over Wofford. After catching an early morning flight to Orlando he joined the rest of the football team to head to practice at 11:00 a.m. Coach Spurrier Jr. (with Bruce, left) said after practice that he wasn't concerned about Bruce being able to get right back in the swing of things with football saying, "he's an intelligent kid." The team held a spirited practice with another day of beautiful weather - perfectly sunny skies and temps in the 60's. Check out more photos from practice here.
All practices are closed except for the first 15 minutes which is open to media (and when we take these pictures). We don't talk too much about specifics other than practice going well - not trying to give the Huskers the game plan!
Coach Spurrier Jr., Coach Mangus, Brandon Wilds, Kyle Nunn and Terrence Campbell all spoke with the media after practice and a quick lift session in our makeshift mobile weight room.
You can check out the practice recap and post-practice interview videos here.
After practice the team had some free time and several of the guys decided to head over to Universal Studios. A special thank you to Lindsey Mammen and the staff at Universal who helped show the guys around. They were pretty intimidated by the 90 degree incline of the RockIt roller coaster, but they hopped on anyway!
Rodney Paulk (left) and Byron Jerideau (right) share a look before they take off on the RockIt. And they were right to be nervous - the initial incline is straight up in the air!
You can check out more funny photos from the team's trip to Universal here.
There were several "Go Gamecocks" cheers heard as the team walked around the park in their Capital One Bowl South Carolina warm-ups and a couple alumni asked the guys for a picture.
Check out the GamecocksOnline.com video highlights:
The evening wrapped up with a special bowl edition of "Carolina Calls" with Todd Ellis, Coach Spurrier and Columbia mayor Steve Benjamin live from the atrium at the team hotel, the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld.
Ellis and Spurrier share a laugh during the show.
Stay tuned tomorrow as the Capital One Bowl trip continues with an event called Day for Kids at Walt Disney World at DisneyQuest, another team practice and a visit to SeaWorld.
Go Gamecocks! Beat Nebraska!
