In the fourth quarter of Saturday's game at Mississippi State, the Gamecocks found themselves holding on to a 14-10 lead after a clutch touchdown catch by Alshon Jeffery. Mississippi State had driven into SC territory and had just earned another first down on a Vick Ballard rush. On 1st and 10 from the SC 32-yard line, the Bulldogs attempted a long pass down the sideline, but D.J. Swearinger comes flying in to pick off the ball and return possession to Carolina. The athletic play would help seal the win as the Gamecocks would hold on to the final possession and end the game on a safety for a final score, 14-12.

The Gamecocks will enjoy their bye week this week before returning to the field on October 29 on the road at Tennessee.
