FB-11 Alshon Jeffery vs. Kentucky.jpegIt would have been easy to choose any of South Carolina's seven touchdowns today as the Spurs Up Play of the Game, or any of the four interceptions or two fumble recoveries on defense.

So on a day when the Gamecocks racked up 639 yards of total offense and 54 points, I decided to go with the scoring play that gave Carolina a lead they would not relinquish - Alshon Jeffery's 20-yard touchdown reception on the opening drive.

On 1st and 10 from the UK 20-yard line, Connor Shaw found Alshon in the south end zone for the touchdown to cap off an 80-yard scoring drive. It was a great ball from Connor to the outside and Alshon made the catch look easy.

"It was a great day today. They tried to get me the ball a lot so I just tried to make things happen whenever my number was called," Alshon said after the game. "I just ran a regular route and once I broke out I saw where the defensive back was. Connor made a great throw and I made a great catch."

Alshon finished the game with 6 receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns. The two touchdown receptions gave him 19 total career receiving touchdowns, moving him into a tie for second place in the Gamecock record books with Robert Brooks, Jermale Kelly and Kenny McKinley.
