#5: Men's Soccer Wins C-USA Tournament Championship in OT

After two halves of regulation time and one overtime period, the Gamecocks found themselves in a 0-0 deadlock with Tulsa in the Conference USA Tournament Championship game. With just over three minutes remaining in the second overtime period, a Tulsa hand ball would give the Gamecocks a penalty kick and the chance to win the game. Midfielder Stephen Morrissey knocked home the PK to incite a celebration on the field as South Carolina captured the 2010 Conference USA Championship and the #5 Top Moment on our countdown.

"It's incredible," Morrissey said after the game. "We've been dreaming about this since the start of the season. The first goal was to win the conference championship, and the second was to get to the NCAA tournament. Today, both just happened."

The championship was the second in just two days for South Carolina. This #5 Top Moment was November 14th, 2010, just one day after the #6 Top Moment, Marcus Lattimore's phenomenal play in the football game at Florida that brought home Gamecock Football's first-ever SEC Eastern Division Championship.

The Gamecocks earned C-USA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, a #7-seed and a first round bye. They would go on to beat Duke (with an OT golden goal from Bradlee Baladez which rivaled for inclusion in our Top Moments!) to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time since 1998.

Season tickets for 2011 Men's Soccer are available for just $25 each for adults and $10 each for youth. Click here.
