Thousand of Gamecocks packed the sidewalks along Main Street in downtown Columbia today to be a part of the celebratory parade for our back to back National Champions, South Carolina Baseball.
The team met up at Carolina Stadium to load up buses and caravan over to the parade staging area where their floats and custom rides awaited them. We could hear the buzz of the crowd before we even made the turn on to Main St and it grew louder and more packed as we got closer to the State House.
The exuberance of the crowd and the joy and gratitude they expressed to the team moved me. The team heard a lot of, "Congratulations!" and "Thank you!!" as the floats inched along. It seemed like almost every fan had a camera or cell phone out taking pictures and video with huge smiles on their faces. The team led a raucous round of GAAAME... COCCCKKSSS while waving and holding up the championship trophies for all to see.
We made our way down to the State House where everyone had packed in for a final ceremony and presentation. Thank you to all the fans who came out today and cheered on the team and to the city of Columbia for all their work for the parade as well.
