The Gamecocks put together 11 hits to beat No.1-ranked Vanderbilt, 3-1, in front of a full capacity crowd at Carolina Stadium. The third run was a solo home run by Peter Mooney, the first scored against Vandy ace Sonny Gray all season.

Michael Roth had an outstanding start, allowing just three hits and one run. Closer Matt Price struck out all three Vandy batters in the 9th inning to end the game and secure the win for Carolina.
