THIS WEEK IN GAMECOCK COUNTRY...
Softball hosts a big series this weekend as they open home SEC play vs. Ole Miss after going 13-5 in nonconference play. They'll play Friday at 6:00 PM, Saturday at 2:00 PM, and Sunday at 12:00 PM. The first 250 fans on Friday will receive Gamecock Softball Rally Towels to celebrate the opening of SEC play and the team will sign autographs after the last game of the series on Sunday. Baseball also hosts a three-game series this weekend vs. Cal State Bakersfield, an opponent who is generating some buzz after beating powerhouse Arizona State as well as Kansas and Washington among others. The 11-2 Roadrunners are ranked No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball poll (in which SC is ranked No. 6). Baseball also hosts Davidson in a midweek game on Wednesday at 7:00 PM after facing archrival Clemson in Greenville tonight at Fluor Field in a make-up game from Saturday's postponement. Women's Tennis opens up home SEC play as well this weekend, facing Auburn on Friday at 2:00 PM and Alabama on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Both of those matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Maxcy-Gregg Tennis Center on Blossom St. Should there be any inclement weather, those matches would be played indoors at the Field House.
