South Carolina Athletics with Military Ties

In honor of Veteran's Day on Thursday, the SEC collected a list from each school of their staff and student-athletes who have immediate family members who are veterans or actively serving our country in the military. Several Gamecock student-athletes and staff members had parents and grandparents to list and there were even a few who had served themselves.

Football
:
Billy Byrne - Grandfather, Norman Duseault, served in the Marines
Ryland Culbertson - Father, Glenn Culbertson, served in the Navy
Patrick Fish - Father, Woody Fish, served in the Army
Travis Ford - Grandfather, Allen Price, served in the Korean War
Matt Grooms served in the Marines during the Iraq War; Brother, Donald Grooms, serves in the Marines and is a member of the Presidential Guard
Josh Hinch  - Grandfather, Buster Bailey, served in the Army
Seth Strickland - Grandfather, Albert Thomas, served in the Air Force
Adam Yates - Father, U.A. Yates, served in the Army
Andy Boyd  - Father, Robert D. Boyd, served in the Army
Coach Brad Lawing  - Father, Bill Lawing, served in the Army
Jamie Speronis  - Father, Peter Speronis, served in the Air Force and flew B-17's in World War II

Chris Duzan  - Grandfather served in the Army
Hunter Howayeck  - Father, James Steven Howayeck, is a chaplain in the Air Force; Brother, James Ross Howayeck, serves in the Air Force
Daniel Lynch  - Grandfather served in the Navy
Will McGinnis  - Grandfather served in the Air Force
Antoine Parris  - Father, Michael Parris, served in the Army; Mother, Maureen Paris, served in the Army
Chipper Root  - Grandfather served in the Army
Hunter Wyer  - Grandfathers served in the Marines and Air Force
Bert Molinary  - Father, Roberto Luis Molinary, Sr., served in the Army

Women's Soccer:
Lolly Holland  - Grandfather, John P. Holland, served in the Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge / D-Day; Grandmother, Laurine Wages, was an Army Nurse
Natalie Aaron  - Billy Wayne Aaron served in the Air Force
Danielle Manning  - Father, Daryl Manning, served in the Army
Roya Mojarab  - Grandfather, served in the Marines during the Korean War
Ali Glemser  - Grandfather, Carl Glemser, served in the Air Force; Grandfather, Mitch Sepaniak, was a member of the Air Force
Christine Watts  - Grandfather, Preston King Watts, served in the Marines
Kelsey Barr - Grandfather, Philip Paradise, served in the Army
Maria Petroni  - Grandfather, Harold Dye, served in the Army and helped liberate Dauchau concentration camp; Grandfather, Bill Keoho, served in the Army and received four Purple Hearts

Ryan Connolly - Grandfather, Frank Connolly, served in the Air Force
Kelly Kirchler - Grandfather, Herman Kirchler, served in the Navy; Grandfather,     Raleigh Huddleston, served in the Marines
Claire Shannon  - Grandfather, Raymond Shannon, earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star
McGee Moody has served in the Navy

Megan Kent - Father, Bobby Kent, served with the Navy Seebees
Hannah Lawing - Stepbrother, Monroe Lawing, served in the Army
Kellie Schmidt - Father, Steven Schmidt, served in the Air Force; Grandfather was a Purple Heart recipient
Amy Pauly - Grandfather, Marvin Gates, was a Purple Heart recipient
Ben Somera - Father served in the Army
