Women's Soccer plays for SEC Championship Friday

As the Women's Soccer season wraps up this week, the SEC Championship will come down to one game... South Carolina vs. Florida this Friday. If our Gamecocks win, they are the regular season SEC Champion and the No. 1 seed going into the SEC Tournament. If they tie, the Gamecocks and Gators are Co-Champions, but SC will get the No. 1 seed in the Tournament.

As the final regular season home game, this Friday's match will also be Senior Night for the Gamecocks as we honor five senior players (more to come on them on Spurs Up Blog later this week). The team is also playing the game in honor of the late Jill Darr Rowell, a former Gamecock golfer and friend of the soccer coaching staff, who will be recognized in a special presentation.

The past year has brought a lot of success and "firsts" for Gamecock Athletics. Women's Soccer won the SEC Tournament last spring to be SEC Champions for the first time and a win this Friday would bring them their first regular season SEC Championship and the first for the university since Baseball in 2002.

We've been one of the leaders in the nation for average attendance for Women's Soccer so I expect this Friday won't be any different, especially with the conference title on the line.

BE THERE!
