We caught up with freshman soccer player Bradlee Baladez after practice yesterday for a quick Q&A. Bradlee was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week and the C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week after game-winning goals vs. both Wake Forest and UAB last week. This Wednesday, the 20th-ranked men's soccer team hits the road to play No. 8 SMU, giving Bradlee, a native of Mesquite, Texas, a chance to play in front of family and friends.

Spurs Up Blog: Tell us about what brought you to South Carolina and what made you come all the way here from Texas?
Bradlee Baladez: The history of South Carolina brought me here. Coach Berson has been here a long time...the support he gets from the fans and the school, it seemed like a program that I fit real well in.

This has been a great week for you, tell us what it means to you to get some of these awards, this national recognition?
It means a lot. I wouldn't have received the awards without the support and hard work of my teammates.  We put hard work in and we're getting results.

You have a return trip to your home state of Texas this week, do you have a lot of friends and family excited about watching you play?
Yes, I have a lot of friends and family coming, really excited to see all of them back at home. It's going to be an exciting moment for me!

Thanks for talking with us, Bradlee! Go Gamecocks!
