Historic Gamecocks win and an amazing game experience

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks
Columbia, South Carolina, was the epicenter of the college football world today and the Gamecocks did not disappoint. The fans were feeling it all day. Great crowd at ESPN College GameDay this morning, lots of great tailgates, a rockin' Williams Brice filled to the brim, rally towels waving throughout the stadium, Sandstorm better than I've ever seen it... it all came together for an amazing gameday! We'll have more photos and videos up in the next couple days!

For now... GO GAMECOCKS!

The shot of Spurrier surrounded by the players on the field after the defense had held late in the game was one of the best I've ever seen in sports. A true coaches moment.

Well, I say this for the “head ball coach” he has always known how to stir up a little controversy, and he hasn’t been in the headlines for a while as the likes of Meyer, Kiffin, Miles, and Saban have taken over but this time his team did it for him. The ol’ man still has some tricks up his sleeve as illustrated by his home dog, South Carolina Gamecocks upset over topped ranked Alabama. The controversy in question will come later down the road as now with this loss it is almost certain that the BCS will face a massive log jam at the top come December and just as certain will be number of schools with a valid claim to play in the National Championship Game. The Spurrier/SC upset opens the door for Boise State who should run the remainder of their very weak schedule with no ranked teams remaining, and Oregon who is not so certain to go unbeaten as the Pac-10 is much more difficult, but now garnish 15 first place votes, not forgotten is the new number one Ohio State who now are the consensus favorite with 34 first place votes and only one ranked team (#15 Iowa) standing between them and another birth in the NCG. So while the SEC continues to beat each other up the hounds are gorging on the wounded. It makes you wonder what they will have left after a full season and championship game, but in any case there will be a one-loss team at the end of it all (perhaps South Carolina) with an impressive resume that includes the toughest ‘strength of schedule’, and multiple victories over top-10 opponents that none of the afore mentioned will be able to match. I can’t wait for them to try and sort this out! Thanks Steve, you’re back in the news, and this time you may go down in history as the man who dropped the first shoe to a change in the current BCS system. Up to your ol’ tricks huh coach?

I have believed in Steve Spurrier for a very long time and he has brought is magic to USC

This is by far the BEST GAME I have EVER seen at CAROLINA. Even when I went to Carolina back in the late 70's we had some great games espcially beating Clemson!!! BUT NOTHING compared to this game where there was no DOUBT we just plain BEAT AL fair and square!!!

I couldn't be prouder to be a GAMECOCK and be PROUD to have gone to UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA!!! GO COCKS!!!!
