Baseball Itinerary in Washington, DC

The 2010 national championship baseball team is in Washington, D.C. today to be honored by President Obama.  The baseball team's itinerary in the nation's capital includes:

  • A morning tour of Nationals Park - home of the Washington Nationals
  • An afternoon tour of the U.S. Capitol as well as a meeting with the S.C. Congressional Delegation 
  • Afternoon trip to the White House. 

The President will welcome student athletes from dozens of schools and various sports to congratulate them on their accomplishments in the classroom as well as on and off the playing field including the University of South Carolina's 2010 national championship baseball team.  The president is scheduled to speak to several NCAA championship teams and student-athletes on the South Lawn at 5:45 p.m. ET. In association with this event, various championship teams and players will be recognized for their efforts to give back to their communities, continuing an effort begun by President Obama of sports champions being commended for service as part of a White House visit.
