The town of Abbeville, South Carolina, population 25,000, earned the title of being named "Most Garnet Hometown" through the online summer promotion at GamecocksOnline.com/football2010 . Fans from all corners of the state of South Carolina registered on the promotional website and uploaded photos as part of the competition. Over 100,000 fans visited the website where they made custom desktop wallpapers and watched nine "Hometown Videos" of Gamecock football players discussing their hometown.
By winning the contest, Abbeville will be included in the kickoff video prior to the start of the South Carolina football game against Southern Miss Thursday night September 2nd.
