Baseball Field of Dreams

John Padilla is a big South Carolina baseball fan.  Monday night, Padilla experienced something that most Gamecocks fans can only dream of.  Fans registered at Columbia-area Little Caesars locations throughout the Gamecocks' baseball season for the chance to take batting practice at Carolina Stadium as part of the Little Caesars Field of Dreams promotion.  And Monday night, John, his wife Danielle and their friend Jeremy Cogdill got to step up to the plate and take their hacks just like Whit Merrifield, Jackie Bradley and the rest of the national championship team. The evening began with a tour of Carolina Stadium, including the chance to take pictures with the national championship trophy in Coach Ray Tanner's office.

FODLockers.JPG Once they had changed into their gear, it was out to the dugout where they picked out a bat and made their way to home plate.  Waiting on them on the mound was none other than former Gamecock closer Blake Taylor who threw batting practice and withstood the temptation to turn loose some high heat!

FODSwing3.JPGAfter taking some big cuts and even launching some balls onto the outfield grass, the contest winners ran the bases and wrapped up their memorable evening with some pizza and Crazy Bread delivered by Caesar Man himself.

FODCaesar.JPGThe event capped off Little Caesars' first year as the official pizza of the Gamecocks, which included Field of Dreams promotions at Williams-Brice Stadium and Colonial Life Arena as well.  The Field of Dreams campaign will continue this fall and fans are encouraged to stop by participating Little Caesars stores throughout the Midlands to register for their chance to participate.
