The Pirates today will promote first baseman/outfielder Steve Pearce from Class AAA Indianapolis.
Pearce, 27, batted .349 with two home runs, eight RBIs, a team-high 17 walks and a .452 on-base percentage.
A corresponding move will be made before the game tonight, and it will involve removing a pitcher from the 25-man roster. That could be the return of Brian Bass to Indianapolis, depending on the health of setup man Brendan Donnelly.
