Baseball Opening Weekend Rotation

Here's a look at the projected weekend starters for the No. 10 Gamecocks this weekend as they open the 2010 campaign against Duquesne.

Friday at 3 p.m. - Senior RHP Blake Cooper
-Cooper finished last season with a 9-4 record, 4.50 ERA in 86 innings. He struck out 65 and walked 29.
-He won his last outing of the 2009 season with a complete game in a 12-2 win over East Carolina in the NCAA Regional.
-Cooper's three-year record at Carolina is 21-12, making him one of only 18 pitchers in program history to earn 20-plus career wins.
-He is the first senior to get an Opening Day start since Aaron Rawl started for the Gamecocks in 2005.

Saturday at 3 p.m. - Junior RHP Sam Dyson
-In 2009, Dyson was 9-4 and posted a 5.21 ERA in 102 innnings of work. He struck out 94 and walked 37 batters.
-He was a 10th round selection in 2009 MLB Draft by the Oakland A's.
-In two years at Carolina, Dyson is 17-4 with 138 strikeouts in 152.2 innings pitched.
-Dyson was named as a 2010 Preseason All-American, earning third-team honors on the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American list.

Sunday at 1:30 p.m. - Freshman LHP Tyler Webb
-
Webb comes to the Gamecocks from Northampton HS in Nassawadox, Va.
-Rated the No. 6 best player in the state of Virginia, Webb was also named to the Virginia High School Coaches Association's All-State team.
-Along with fellow pitcher Jordan Propst, Webb is the tallest player on the Gamecocks' active roster - measuring in at 6 feet, 6 inches tall.
