THIS WEEK IN GAMECOCK COUNTRY...

This week Gamecock Softball returns home to their new Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field for a three-game series vs. Kentucky as well as a midweek game vs. Appalachian State. We will have limited seating capacity this week similar to opening weekend vs. Alabama, so please stay tuned to GamecocksOnline.com for information on ticket availability. Baseball will host Charleston Southern on Tuesday in a televised game on SportSouth. Game time is at 7:00 PM (there may have been some game time confusion due to a newspaper misprint - it is definitely at 7:00). Baseball will then play at Fluor Field in Greenville on Wednesday vs. Furman before hitting the road to Knoxville for a three-game weekend series at Tennessee. After a sweep of Arkansas and LSU on the road this past weekend, Women's Tennis will host Mississippi State and Ole Miss at home at Carolina Tennis Center this weekend. The Sunday match vs. Ole Miss is the final home match of the season. Track & Field will host their final home meet of the season on Wednesday, the Gamecock Outdoor Invitational.

Throwback Thursday: Sterling Sharpe

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Throwback Thursday - the great Sterling Sharpe! The All-American and 2013 College Football Hall of Fame nominee had 169 catches, 2,497 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns in his Gamecock career. His 1986 season sat atop the Carolina record books for nearly 20 years until Sidney Rice in 2005 and he remains third in program history in career yardage, surpassed only recently by Kenny McKinley and Alshon Jeffery. He went on to seven standout seasons with the Green Bay Packers, his NFL career cut short by injury. He now appears as a TV analyst and has partnered with Coach Spurrier the past several years in the Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge golf tournament (even winning the tourney in 2008 and 2009!) Forever To Thee, Sterling Sharpe!
